When I tap on an image I expect it to fit to the window, or display it at 1:1, but I'm not sure what it's doing here. The result is it's too big and blurry and I can't really find a way to view the entire image.
I'm not able to reproduce this when viewing that same post and trying to match the window size—are there other scenarios where it's reproducible?
Interesting. It happens on every image on every post for me.
I find it perculiar that the expanded image surround does not cover the whole window.
My setup:

I just upgraded to Sonoma and this is still an issue.
Let me know if you want me to try more things.
Unfortunately, I still haven't been able to reproduce this. I am working on a complete rewrite of the attachment gallery, though, which may fix this incidentally. Once that's available in beta, I may ask you to confirm whether the issue is still present.
Will be happy to take a look.
Using my pinned post and various window sizes, I am not seeing any real change or improvement in Version 2024.1 (115) the image still doesn't appear to fit to window, and appears badly positioned
Urgh, I'll take another look. When in the weird state, are you able to scroll around the image, or is it stuck in place?
With your pinned post, I see an issue where, after opening one image and the swiping to another, the new image is incorrectly positioned/scaled, and I can scroll around it. That may or may not be related to this bug.
It's stuck in place. The only movement comes when I dismiss it and it animates as it shrinks.
I've never tried to scroll around the image but I'll try tomorrow.
The latest build (116) has a fix for the issue I was seeing with your post (which may or may not be the same as your issue).
Sadly it's not my issue.
Here's a video:
Here are screenshots from it running on my Mac with no external display.
Do you have the system-wide accessibility "Reduce motion" setting enabled?
Alright, build 117 has a fix for the issue I was seeing with Reduce Motion on, which seems to be the source of the issue.
Woop! woop! it seems to be fixed for me.
Yes I do have "Reduce Motion" on, not really sure why but there must be a historic reason :)
Thanks for putting so much effort into fixing this one.
